It was perhaps one of the latest calls in the history of our sport when the decision was made to abandon last years PWA event in Chile. It left many pro windsurfers with a choice to go on the tickets they had already booked or just abandon it all and try to salvage some costs through cancelling their flights and accommodation options. As far as we can tell it wasn’t a hard decision to make. The beaches of Chile got the show it was expecting, albeit less a few flags and judges.

Among others, two people who decided to head south were Klaas Voget and Victor Fernandez. These two world class wave sailors cannot rate these incredible breaks high enough. Perhaps this is the reason for the numerous pro windsurfer houses that are popping up along that coastline. We caught up with the two Fanatic team riders to find out a little more about what happened with PWA Chile, why it was cancelled, what this place means to them and much more. Read on for a master class in wave sailing…
