Leon’s New Gear
Leon Jamaer has recently moved over to JP Australia and NeilPryde, and it’s safe to say he is loving his new equipment. Since injury kept Leon off the water at the end of last year (he pulled ligaments in his ankle, landing a backloop in Chile) Leon collected his new equipment and has been testing it on the water over the last week or so, in Cape Town.
Leon has chosen Combat’s as his sail of choice, and has 3.2, 3.7, 4.2 and 4.7 for the Chase. Leon has chosen the Combat for various reasons, he feels that with his size (not a super lightweight) and the type of sailing that he does mailing (European cross onshore, at spots in Germany and Denmark) that the Combat really is the only sail choice for him. He likes the powerful feel and thinks that it is much needed where he sails.
For boards, Leon has been using an 83 prototype single thruster, but set up as a quad so far in Cape Town. He has this with him, along with an 82 and 77 quad. It looks like he will choose to take either of the bigger boards, unless it looks like it will be windy enough for a 3.2 sail!
