Whenever a video featuring Timo or Tam Mullen drops we get pretty excited here at Boardseeker HQ. Quality, passion and performance always seem like the driving characteristics of these edits and this is exactly what you can expect from this epic clip.
Before we jump over to the video we asked Timo for a few quick fire answers about the differences between Cape Cold and Cape Town. Why? Because we know Timo absolutely loves a last minute trip and the rumours are true that he once did a four day on-forecast trip to Cape Town a couple years back. So who better to ask the 'it's a small world' questions.
Quick fire with Timo
CT - Cape Town, CC - Cape Cold.
Quicker to get to: Pretty much the same, 14 hrs door to beach! I guess quicker if I flew to Ireland but I find Stena Line give me the best options with all my gear on going to Ireland!
On it’s day where would you choose: I love both but Cape Cold for its rarity!!
Warmest location (air temp.): Cape Town!!
Warmest location (sea temp.): About the same I reckon CT feels colder because of the difference between air and sea temp.
Where do you feel safer: Cape Town for sure, Cape Cold is pretty out on a limb with no one around in the winter when it works, and the rip current there is pretty lethal.
More crowded: Cape Town for sure!!
More locals: We are all pretty transient windsurfers in Ireland so I'd say we call any Irish beach our 'local'!
Cleanest wave: Cape Cold
Cleanest wind: Cape Town and the ever reliable Cape Doctor!!
Longest wave: I'd say Cape Town as Cape Cold is a pretty short fast intense ride!
Gnarliest location to snap a mast: Both! Sharks and dangerous currents can both kill, I've broken a mast at both and I have to say I was more scared thinking about the sharks!
If there was the perfect forecast for both tomorrow, where would you go: I would try and juggle the flights, etc.. and do both, or at least look into if that was possible!
