The Luderitz speed canal provided some great conditions again this year, but nothing quite good enough to challenge the records of 2012. The provisional results have been posted, with one more day of wind coming through on the 17th November, but it didn't really live up to expectation.
There is no doubt that on it's day Luderitz can provide some of the best conditions for breaking speedsailing records, but when these conditions don't come through riders are left waiting for many days with a rather large hole in their pocket. Most riders pay out thousands and thousands to head to the canal, paying per week to stay and use the man-made speed strip, so the longer you stay the more it costs.
What do you think, is it worth the hefty prize tag? Would you fork out a few thousand pounds/euro a week to take on the canal? Or simply make the most of conditions at other free locations when they come through?
