We have followed the Butterfly Effect since last year, and this last weekend they celebrated its first Anniversary in Maui.
This initiative from Tatiana Howard and Juliana Farias started like a fun down winder from Hookipa to Kanaha to share and celebrate the joy of the water sports practiced by girls. Back then it was a great success and in one year the Butterfly Effect has hit Maui, Brazil, New Zealand and Australia.
This year in Maui, about 50 girls joined the celebration, windsurfing, kiting, surfing, paddle boarding all the way down from Hookipa. First they had some wonderful breakfast at Hookipa with coffee and hand made banana bread from legendary coffee shop in Paia Anthony´s.
Maria Souza prepared the girls to get on the water, with some exercises to stretch and warm up. Then the girls started the down winder stopping at some spots to pick up more girls that joined and to shared their experiences. Anne Marie Reichman, Juliana and Maria did a small clinic to teach the girls a bit how to paddle board, waterstart, etc. After all this, Flatebread Co. delivered some warm pizzas at Kanaha for the girls, who also received some nice bags gifts from the sponsors that helped the event: DaKine, Naish, Wings Hawaii and Matiko Shoes.
And if this wasn’t enough, Naish center had an after party at their center, with drinks and fun for the girls.
This event is just great to show the girls the joy of the ocean, and help them loose their fear to get out there and sail, surf, or whatever.
Big congratulation to Taty and Juliana, the main motors of this event!
