The fifth day of the competition didn’t give a break to the competitors, as the Alisio winds keep blowing in the Canary Island.
More of the same in this third single elimination, but with some upsets on the way. Antxon Otaegui got injured when he was warming up and is out of the competition (we wish him a quick recovery). Matia Pedrani surprised many people when he beat Norman Gunzlein, but the Italian was sailing with confidence and style.
This time, the fight for the third and fourth place in the men saw Campello fighting hard against the smooth style from Taty Frans. In the end it was the Venezuelan who got the victory. In the women, it was Laure Treboux against Iballa Moreno. Iballa put up some good moves with spocks and forwards but couldn’t keep up with Laure’s switch stance moves and even a decent air flaka.
The final in the men was between the usual suspects Gollito and Kiri. Kiri showed that his sliding style has improved this year and he is now pulling a lot more air moves, throwing air funnels and double flaka diablos, but Gollito was growing in confidence during the heat and in the end he got the first place with some massive shakas, ponch-flakas, burners, etc…
In the women, freestyle master Offringa faced Daida Moreno this time. The Pozo specialist put up a pretty good heat with a flaka Diablo right after an slider, but this only made Sarah Quita go harder and pull some insane moves like puneta 540, double flaka, shaka and even an airchachoo attempt.
Today Saturday is the last day of the comp. Sarah has already won the ladies, and in the men, Gollito is pretty safe, but still some results in this last double elimination could change this result. We’ll see today.
