With less waves than yesterday, the decision was made early on to push a few rounds of slalom through. 3 rounds in total were run, all using the standard 4 buoy downwind course.
After a small lapse in concentration yesterday Antoine went straight back to work today, adding another 3 bullets to his near perfect score card. With 2 discards counting, he is now discarding a 1st place. Impressive, but rather boring.
The race really is on now for the top 10 positions. Kevin Pritchard is looking fairly safe in 2nd, but 3rd position has changed daily, with the overall scores today putting Bjorn in the final podium position. Next there is an intense battle between Ross, Cyril and Peter Volwater for the next 3 places. All are within reach of the podium and all are very capable of big results. The next places are a fight between Angulo, Finian, Micah and Steve Allen. All are pretty much level and again those final races will decide everything.
Meanwhile in the womens freestyle Sara-Quita took the double elimination and pretty much secured the event title. Her display today was a clear league above the rest, almost coming in with her hair dry. Daida played the home advantage to take another 2nd. The 2 standouts today however were Yoli Freites de Brendt who fought from last place all the way through to 5th, taking out Silvia and Iballa on the way and eventually losing to Junko. Junko then put on a solid performance to take out Laure and move towards Daida. This was probably Daidas best heat of the comp so far and despite pulling some of the best moves, that was the end of Junko\'s run in 3rd place, and her highest PWA finish.
Tomorrow once again forecasts waves, so the hope is to get the double elimination finished. Stay tuned as always.
