You may remember back in the winter that Sea Spite Sports put out a challenge for the highest loop in the UK. That is a prize designed for Andy King and he made no mistakes in claiming the win. For more info we pass you over to John Bainbridge.
"SeaSprite Sports launched their Looping Lords and Ladies Challenge in February of this year, laying down the gauntlet to Windsurfers and Kitesurfers alike. The Challenge was the idea of sSs Team Rider, Steve Waller, and the objective was to find who could loop the highest on the shores of the UK and Ireland before his 40th birthday on the 20th June. Photographic proof was an absolute requirement of any claim.
Andy King has long had the reputation for being a fearless and radical height seeking Windsurfer, capable of huge jumps and crazy loops, who always goes big when the conditions allow. On the 10th of March, windsurfing enthusiast Simon Burgess was armed with his camera above the Marazion windsurfers playground and caught Andy on film just finishing the rotation of a massive push loop which set the standard for the rest of the Challenge; a standard which no-one could beat.
Andy was delighted to receive his engraved pewter Triple L Trophy and a selection of RRD clothing and is looking forward to the opportunity to win the challenge again in 2009. Although he has recently joined the Police force, he will continue to compete and he has his sights set on being UK FreeWave champion for 2008.
Andy is sponsored by Goya, Rip Curl, BigSalty.com, Ocean Source, Pat Love, Amex, MFC and Boardseeker. www.k100windsurfing.com
