One word about today; cold, very very cold!
The north-east winds brought no waves but a brisk breeze running against the flooding tide into Chichester Harbour allowed a \'fun freestyle expression\' session with the emphasis on \'old school\' freestyle. So with plenty of downwind 360\'s, duck gybes, one-handed gybes and body drags the fleet warmed up. Well kind of warmed up, because it was so cold. Sailors were coming in with white fingers and toes and then nearly throwing up as the blood returned to their pinkies. It was no laughing matter!
Not all the Pro sailors got wet, but those that did got a whipping by Emile Kott who works for 2XS and the West Wittering Windsurfing Club. He just didn\'t get his hair wet and pulled off some sweet spocks, flakas as well as all the old school favourites.
The Masters was won by local sailor Ed Texier who out-looped the competition. The Amateurs by another local Will Barratt. SWA sailor Sarah Bibby may have settled for second at the recent Tiree Wave Classic but in freestyle she romped ahead and won the Ladies ahead of local sailors Sam Smithson, Emily Rae and competition regular Louise Emery.
The Youths (U20) was won by James Randall, the Juniors (U17) by Aleksy Gayda and the Minum fleet (U15) by Milo Tonry-Brown.
The fleet will gather tonight at the Dell Quay Pub for a good feed and maybe a few drinks for the Wave God. We have the wind, just need some swell for the last day of the UKWA Wave Tour.
