Dan Ellis reports on the last day of action in Fuerte:

The last day was one of the best of my life.  The speed kicked off first in about 25knots of wind and a really broad course not classic speed condition but good none the less.  In these conditions most riders use slalom boards.

I was on my production Fanatic 90 and Naish Stealth 7.6, which drove me to 8th.  Even though the wind was relatively light and he’s one of the heaviest Bjorn won the round ahead of Pieter Bjil and Steve Allen both on Fanatic falcon 90’s.

After the Speed every one was pretty knackered but we had one last round of slalom to do. The format for the last round was ½ fleet racing with the top 12 going to a final. It was a crucial round for the top spot where Micah and Bjorn where neck and neck. The pressure was also on for myself as I new I had to perform to move back into the top 10 from 11th.

It was really interesting to see how much these guy’s wanted to win and would do anything to do so. In the end Bjorn won the last round but it wasn’t enough to beat Micah who took the crown. Bjorn looked totally broken after and it gave me an idea of why he won so many world titles with the total belief that 1st is the only place he deserves. I had my best race of the contest finishing 4th which was nice! And put me into 8th overall.
