Yesterday saw conditions begin to switch on with some fun sailing at Cotillo. Today however it got a bit more serious. Puertito turned on full power, with up to mast and half high waves breaking straight onto the rocks. Not for the faint hearted, but the boys stepped up and got the contest underway.
The results from the first day saw Stephane\'s team take the lead after a solid performance from Boujma in the Morocco like shorebreak of Cotillo. However with plenty more time to run plenty more rounds it was still all to play for as they moved up the coast.
The decision to move up to Puertito was a tricky one, but it was the right move and the sailors scored some epic waves. Starting at head high, but building rapidly throughout the day. Lots of destruction and lots of action.
Heat 1 saw Francisco Portcella use his surfing style to take the win from Thomas in 2nd, Robin and Antony in =3rd and Ilya in 5th.
Next up in Heat 2 was Klaas, Dario, Stephane, Will and JB. A loaded heat which saw Stephane use his home advantage to take the win. He doesn\'t sail the spot often, but has still put more hours in than probably anyone else. Dario took 2nd, Klaas 3rd, Will 4th and JB in 5th
In the last heat of the day Jonas stepped up to take the win. The swell was rising all the time and conditions really separated the men from the boys. Boujma took =2nd with Yannick, with Jaume in 4th and Alex in 5th.
So after a tough day it was Stephanes team in the lead, but Will is closing in with wins from both Francisco and Jonas giving them mega points.
Tomorrow the forecast is for the swell to pick up massively promising up to double mast high waves. We wish the boys good luck.
