It seems that there might be a glimmer of wind returning to the UK. We are stacked up with kit for test at the moment and desperately needing some wind, so fingers crossed!! We have 5.3 Power Wave sails with 85 Freewaves to finish off & 130 Freeride boards with no-cam 7.5 sails. There is wind forecast for Rhosneigr towards the end of the week, so the Clones are flexing their muscles and getting ready for action! In the meantime, you can check out our windsurfing equipment tests here.
Simmer have a cool update from Francisco Porcella on their site. Francisco is on the road at the moment after the Cape Verde and Fuerte events and is now in Sardinia waiting for the start of the Nissan Capo del Capo competition.
It looks like we will be seeing Hotsails back on the PWA tour this year with ex-Freestyler Diony Guadagnino using them on the slalom tour! More info here
Talking of competitions, The first UK National Wave event starts in Brandon Bay, Ireland next Wednesday (through to Sunday) and then the following weekend (16th &17th) is the Rhosniegr combined Wave and Slalom event. This is already shaping up to be a big one with Nik Baker entering the Wave event and his brother Ant aiming to give Jamie Hawkins a run for his money in the slalom! We will be reporting live from both events and also presenting a Podcast afterwards of all the best action.
For those remenising about their winter in Cape Town, Windsurf Zone (Italy) have a nice interview (translated) with Italian rider Andrea Marlotti and some great pictures of the spot.
Continent Seven report on the weekends Surftest in Podorsdorf. Basically all the brands put their kit on demo. The public pay 25 Euro for 2 days, which entitles them to test all the kit and get free drinks at the bar. Interestingly anyone who can get through 5 items of kit over the weekend gets a goody bag and a 10 Euro refund as a reward?!! Getting through 5 items of kit didnt sound too hard to us, but maybe the free drinks are more of an attraction than we first imagined!!
Victor Fernandez is renowned for his high jumps. Yesterday he was on a 3.4 in Almeria showing what he can do. Fanatic have the pictures here.
Maui Surf report have a quick chat with Kauli talking about Quad fins. He comments only on advantages and no diss-advantages over twins....can the windsurfing world handle another 2 fins?!! Rumour has it that all his boards are Quads now and we hear that Keith Teboul is raving about them also. You can check out some better pics of the Quads here.
