Pozo Izquierdo, one of the most legendaries and spectacular wave and slalom events on the PWA Tour, has been degraded to a freestyle event only.

Under the current economic circumstances, the organizers have seen their budged reduced drastically. This meant the event had to be shortened to only 4-5 days and they thought it would be better to have a freestyle competition to make sure they have conditions to get a result. This is a very surprising decision knowing that in Pozo during July (pretty much always) it is sure that the wind blows at about 40 knots every single day. Pretty sure that is far from ideal conditions for freestyle but you can surely jump with that wind and a chop!

The deal is still not 100% closed yet, although the PWA has officially released yesterday the information about this change. Lets wait and see.
