News Headlines – Wed 19th

Ben Proffitt has taken the BWA Pro fleet single elimination over in Brandon Bay after the longest day of competition anyone can remember – 6.30am to 9.15pm! John Skye, Phil Horrocks and Timo Mullen are sitting 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Double eliminations in the Ladies, Masters and Amateurs see Katie McAnena, Craig Hamilton and Adam Sims on top. Keep up with the latest in the Boardseeker forum, see the BWA\’s report, and meanwhile here\’s Alfie\’s take on eternity…

The wind finally started blowing again for a couple of hours down in Korea, where the Slalom action\’s just finished for the day at PWA Ulsan. Albeau is still firing bullets to stay in charge of the men\’s fleet, while Karin Jaggi seems to be wrestling control amongst the women. Keep an eye on the PWA site for the official update and results.

If the recent PWA Austria Freestyle event put you in mind of a visit, you might be interested to hear there\’s now a Fanatic Test Centre at Neusiedlersee in Podersdorf. It remains unclear whether the jump-ramp and jet-ski tow-in will be made available to tourists though…

And if you mourned the lack of a women\’s fleet at Podersdorf, let\’s attempt to redress the balance a little. Take a look at Maui Sails\’ Danish diva, Xenia Kessler in training on Bonaire. Look out for her at PWA Lanzarote later this season…

But this one\’s got to be worth a decent wake. According to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center (sic), El Niño is drawing to a close and La Niña\’s on its way. Dare we hope for trustworthy British wind patterns to reestablish themselves at last?

Down in sunny Dorset, the artificial Boscombe Reef has been rated just 4 out of 10 for success and quality by independent experts. That ought to come as no surprise to anyone who\’s tried it.

And finally, Vandal Sails have asked \’how sick is your van?\’ (Mine\’s not too well to be honest, stalling in traffic and jumping out of 2nd, but at least it\’s not covered in graffiti!)
