News Headlines – Thu 27th

Today\’s first movie is a classic day between La Caleta and Acid Drop on Fuerteventura\’s North Shore, featuring Witchcraft riders Pieter Delaleeuw and expat British shredder Will Ward. Nice work if you can get it.

But there\’s plenty of homeland talent still residing in the UK. Like Adam Sims for example, who just won the amateur wavesailing at BWA Ireland hot on the heels of success at the first UKWA Freestyle event of the season down in Poole. His Easter freestyle trip to El Tur, Egypt, might well have helped. Some slick combinations in there too…

Staying with style, Germany\’s Adrian Beholz won the Bonifacio Freestyle Project in Corsica. Antony Ruenes took second, Yarden Meir third and Thomas Traversa fourth, while New Caledonian Antoine Albert took home the best picture award. More here, here and here

Over in Italy on Lake Garda, Mattia Fabrizi has won the 2010 Shaka Bump & Jump contest, tricking off the wake of a specially commissioned ferry. Here\’s a brief report from second placed Nicola Spadea.

Now, being a godless sinner of a news-monkey, I\’m afraid I have no concept what (or even when) Pentacost is exactly. But it seems to have got the Danes out in force, and if these shots from Danish are anything to go by it looks like the kind of religious festival worth believing in.

And finally, keeping it Danish, 19 year-old Christopher Friis DEN-36 might only have been sailing since 2006 but he\’s already dabbling with doubles. And the second attempt in this movie from Hanstholm in Denmark shows he\’s having no trouble getting the rotations in. Good luck with those landings, fella…
