News Headlines – Thu 3rd

A super-windy week of freestyle at EFPT Sardinia has drawn to a close. Davy Scheffers took the third double elimination, but having won the first two doubles Steven van Broeckhoven skopu-d away with overall event victory after 106 heats up in Northern Sardinia. Davy Scheffers took 2nd, Nicolas Akgazciyan 3rd and Mattia Fabrizi 4th.

After the freestyle doubles were all done, Red Bull towed their ramp into position near the beach and seven riders competed in an hour\’s super session. Nicolas Akgazciyan picked up first prize with an amazing tabletop into forward. The next EFPT event is just next week on Vassiliki – look out for the Brits at the Milos Beach Lefkada Vassiliki Open, 11-14 June.

Today\’s movie also provides a little taste of things to come, as the PWA Wave Tour look towards Klitmøller in Denmark, 13-19 September. Hanstholm\’s hardly down-the-line cross-off perfection, but looks like a venue that could genuinely produce the goods this season…

From future events to times past, the British Wavesailing Association have released the official BWA 2010 standings after two events. Ben Proffitt\’s on top in the pros, Adam Sims first amateur, Katie McAnena leading woman, Craig Hamilton rules the masters, and Liam Ellis is all alone in the youths. So it\’s still all to play for at Tiree (9-15 October) and Cornwall (28-31 October).

For more memories of BWA Rhosneigr and Brandon Bay 2010, try the RRD blog (proud sponsors of Katie, Adam, and second placed Skyeboy). And around the blogs, third placed Phil Horrocks seems pretty gutted that Rhossi didn\’t deliver this year, Ben Proffitt soon got over it after winning in Ireland, while John Skye\’s now moved on to a successful looking clinic in Moulay…

Maui Sails have released some great Maui surf slalom footage of their 2010 TR-6 in action. Peter Volwater, Phil McGain and co at pace – brilliant!

And finally, take a quick break with Graham Woods during half an hour off work at OTC Tenerife for some frontside onshore action out front of the El Médano centre…
