News Headlines – Wed 7th

So, somehow this year it\’s come as no surprise that PWA Pozo suffered a calm day one. Here\’s the PWA movie to prove it! According to the live ticker, today looks more promising – Ben Proffitt is due on against young Frenchman Jules Denel in the very first heat, vowing to avenge Phil Horrocks\’ defeat in Sylt. Meanwhile local girl Nayra Alonso is wondering wtf\’s going on…

She thoroughly enjoyed PWA Lanzarote though. As did the top three: check out the interview with 2010 Freestyle World Champ Sarah-Quita on Vandal Sails\’ punk-arse new website, second placed Yoli de Brendt has released a movie of her training back home on Margarita, and third placed Laure Treboux remembers the event on her blog.

Wilhelm Schurmann from Brazil won every leg of the week-long annual Highland Spring HIHO, sailing a NeilPryde V8 10.0 sail and a BiC Techno 283 board with a stock fin. Read the report here, and more on this Caribbean spectacular here.

UKWA Hunstanton is due up this weekend, 10-12 July, incorporating round two of the UK Freestyle Tour and the sixth BSA Slalom leg. Here\’s hoping the forecast improves…

Talking of light winds, Bryony Shaw is lying in third at the RS:X European Championships in Sopot, Poland, on the rest day today. The event finishes on Saturday – but in the meantime there\’s a live webchat with Nick Dempsey tomorrow evening at 18:30. Post your questions now!

And finally, some good wholesome Irish wave action from Mikey Clancy at Magheroarty – and it\’s forecast to get bigger all down that west coast too. Hmmm…
