News Headlines – Wed 25th

Deep in the Indian Ocean, today marks the start of La Reunion Wave Classic 2010 (for any non-French speakers, that\’s the Reunion Wave Classic!) organised by Wave Classic Invitational. The forecast looks pretty sound, so we\’re hoping for some killer action over the next 10 days. Of course, this year\’s event will be filmed by the good people at umi Pictures – and back home in the UK we\’ll be rooting for cinematic dynamo Jamie Hancock who\’s competing as well as editing footage. Meanwhile, to whet your appetite here\’s last year\’s event movie from Pertusato Films.

The last Wave Classic visited Morocco, allowing us a seamless plug of some Oceansource Moulay goodness: first up a great movie of John Skye and Nayra Alonso\’s recent wave clinic, and then a shout for the forthcoming Boujmaa extravaganza, 1-10 November in Moulay with Boujmaa Guilloul and team-mate Fettah Ahllamara.

The next PWA Wave event is up in Klitmøller, Denmark, in the shape of Cold Hawaii next month – another chance of some seamless plugging then, as the JP Young Gun Classic pays a visit a month later, 17-20 October. More here and here.

And just down the road (OK – a long way down some long roads, but in the same ballpark globally) it\’s \’Mission accomplished\’ for Nayra Alonso who spent the weekend with Gollito and Tonky, plus Laure Treboux and a dozen other girls in Holland at the Mission. Not a lot of wind, but a great party and some tow-in freestyle action by the sounds of it…

Onto the other Frans now, as Maui Ultra Fins have developed a new freestyle foil in collaboration with Taty Frans, claiming “unbelievable grip, jumping, turning and sliding characteristics with minimal area and length.” Available in 15, 16 and 17cm and US or Powerbox, they seem to have done Taty OK this season…

Also doing OK, Devon\’s freshest windsurfing emporium Boylo\’s have launched a massive summer sale on summer clothing and windsurf gear – with up to 66% off some items! Grab a bargain while you can via their website

Voting is now open on the inaugural Ho’okipa Jumpfest – Jimmie Hepp and Chris Freeman\’s little project where the world are invited to vote for their favourite Ho\’okipa jump shot. Graham Ezzy is currently in top spot with this no-handed backie. More at 60 Days of Summer, see a rough cut day 2 movie at Maui Windsurfing, and cast your vote via Windsurfing Mag.

And finally, back to the Mission in Holland – and how hard would you think it was to windsurf off a waterslide into a lake? Probably more difficult than you think having seen this movie from the Brouwersdam. We\’d stick with the tow-in if it\’s not blowing…
