News Headlines – Fri 1st

IT\’S WINDY!!! Well, at least in the UK it is, but as that\’s where we are we hope you\’ll excuse us that today\’s headlines are brought to you at pace by the letter F and number 6…

They\’ve not been so lucky at PWA Sylt, as yesterday the sum total of naff-all happened. The slalom sailors were on hold with a 15-minute warning all day. Today the freestylers and wavesailors have been released again and it seemed a bit Groundhog Day this morning – until the wind filled in about an hour ago, allowing racing to start. Keep up to date here.

So, in the absence of any PWA action to show you, today\’s movie is the the annual JP product photoshoot on Maui which coincided with some of the best conditions seen at the shoot for years. Here are the highlights of the action from an all-star international JP team – Kauli Seadi BRA-253, Jason Polakow KA-1111, Antoine Albeau FRA-192, Ricardo Campello V-111, Robby Swift K-89, Antxon Otaegui E-169, Micah Buzianis USA-34, Phil Horrocks K-303, Morgan Noireaux HI-101, Andy Chambers K-540, Ian Mouro Lemos BRA-85, Yegor Popredinsky RUS-11, Olya Raskina RUS-14

The big product news today is the launch of the 2011 Fanatic and North freeride kit. Check out the new Hawks, Sharks, Rays and Falcons on the Fanatic site. The North site hasn\’t updated yet, but we\’re expecting new Rams, S_Types, X_Types, Naturals, Curves and Drive Groms any minute soon…

The Windsurfing Raceboard Class has been selected as equipment for a windsurfing event in the 2011 European Masters Games to be held in Lignano, Italy. The Games, for athletes over the age of 35, will take place from 10th to 20th September 2011. More here.

In Ireland, the Surfdock DMG Wave event is on this weekend. At Westport. More here.

Thanks to George Shillito for pointing this one out – if you need a laugh (and are prepared to watch a vid with no windsurfing in it!) check out Muzza\’s trip to Jamie Gibbs\’ farm. Ooooo-aarrrrrr!!!

And finally, did we mention? IT\’S WINDY!!! Today\’s the day folks – if you haven\’t already, check BigSalty for the latest and then do your damnedest to get out of whatever work or other such insignificant nonsense might be stopping you and get to the beach. See you down there!
