News Headlines – Thu 14th

Great news that the Chilean 33 are back on the surface. The best thing about good news being that no-one gets offended by diabolical analogies. So here goes: up on Tiree the BWA wavesailors are also playing the waiting game at the Tiree Wave Classic. Camp Hope II are all focussed on tomorrow\’s forecast promising their very own Phoenix escape capsule in the shape of 20 knots NW. From deep in the Atlantic there\’s news on, John Skye\’s blogging, Bubble\’s still tweeting. Meanwhile, to keep your hopes of a miracle alive, here\’s the guys and girls in training earlier this week…

Back on the mainland, Phil Horrocks is beginning to regret his decision to stay home this week. He had to attend little bro\’s wedding, obviously, question is will the BWA allow him to turn up for just the last day?

Down on the South Coast, Al Bentley shows us what he\’s been up to this summer: dogging! (Turfdogging, that is…)

Back to yesterday\’s breaking news and it\’s now been ratified by the WRSCC that kiter Alex Caizergues has smashed the 500m speedsailing world record at Luderitz in Namibia. Early estimates were pretty conservative as it turns out he registered 54.10 knots on his first run at 15:38 local time. Rumours are that the windsurfers aren\’t so happy with the speedstrip, although Anders Bringdal has stretched the Swedish record to 44.80 knots, while the UK\’s Zara Davis has taken the female production board record up to 36.99 knots. More here and here – and here\’s footage of that blistering 54.1.

And finally, if you\’re at the office either turn your volume down or come back later, cos here\’s Simmer\’s Kai Katchadourian showing off his other skills: loud, fast, and pretty damned impressive…
