We\'re back! Hope you had a good Christmas, and are looking forward to New Year as we enter the festive twilight zone. So, whether you\'re back at work, escaping the family, or just escaping the cold, here are today\'s headlines...
First up, it looks like Sykeboy and Nayra Alonso are enjoying some happy holidays back home on Gran Canaria – John\'s claiming two sessions a day all over the island in some of the best conditions he\'s ever seen there. More at skyeboy.blogspot.com and nayraalonso.blogspot.com.
To Tarifa on mainland Spain\'s southern tip now, where there\'s been no such lack of waves. The Loft Sails Team of Alez Guyader, Monty Spindler, Pierrot Gloaguen, Ben Van Der Steen and Ludo Jossin scored a mast-high session at the Bunker in the first of the big winter swells. Full pic gallery here.
Back to the icy British tundra (alright, it has thawed now, but 18° still seems an awfully long way off...) where SILTe, Turfdog and now Spartan Wetsuit team riders Adam Sims (RRD / RRD) and Mike Archer (F2 / Maui Sails) present their Christmassy Windsurf 2010. About zero degrees with windchill, 25 knots cross-on, they\'re claiming the new suits did the job at Greatstone on the Kent / East Sussex border just before Christmas. Nice work.
If you think you deserve one last little present to yourself – and are one of the growing band of iPod / iPhone / iPad owners – the Windsurfing Tricktionary App, apparently "the first mobile instructional application for windsurfing", could be the perfect gift to self. Point your phones at apptism.com
Out on Hawaii, Maui Windsurfing have named Camille Juban \'The Best Wavesailor in the World\' after a long-running vote that suspiciously swung the Guadeloupean\'s way after Levi Siver and Kauli Seadi had lead the opinion polls the whole way through. Any which way, there\'s no arguing he\'s a promising rider though – could 2011 be his year to prove the vote right?
Of course, the PWA wave circuit would be the place to cement that, and it\'s been announced that the 2011 World Tour will kick off on 25 February. The 2011 Vietnam PWA Grand Slam at Mui Ne offers a prize purse of €100,000 across the disciplines of Freestyle and Slalom. Who knows when and where the Wave Tour will kick off this year. It couldn\'t be Maui, could it?!? Keep an eye on pwaworldtour.com for the latest.
While we\'re talking events, the 2011 IFCA Slalom World Championship will be held in conjunction with the 34th Round Texel Race during Zwitserleven Zeilweek, 20-25 June 2011, on one of the Frisian Islands in the Netherlands. More here.
And finally, while it\'s maybe not usually office-friendly this time of year a bit of music might be OK to keep spirits up. So here\'s PWA freestyler and MC Ruben BNG Petrisie\'s latest collaboration with Pintos: listen to Another Time here...
