Did we say \'twilight zone\' yesterday? Thought so... And, befitting of the season, today seems to be another pretty slow news day. So, let\'s kick off with a movie trailer for a French flick we\'re looking forward to in the new year – a Sylvain Demercastel production featuring Fabrice Beaux, Nick de Wannemaeker, Masahiro Motohashi, and even a cameo from the wetsuit\'s founding father Jack O\'Neill, Planet Blow, The Dark Lines promises to be "the first dark surf video ever. See the world through the eyes of a delusional artist surfer traveller." More at planetblow.com
Down in Australia, they\'re not letting this end of year limbo interfere with racing at the 2011 Oceanic Championships for Raceboards, RS:X and Techno classes in Wollongong, New South Wales. After three days and eight races, John Demol (AUS-734) is leading the men\'s from James Grunfelder (BS-11) while Jannicke Stalstrom (NOR-3) is holding off Jessica Crisp in the women\'s fleet. Keep up with the action at iycwindsurfingevents.net.au, and meanwhile here\'s the day two movie from Sean O\'Brien...
Way over in Western Oz, more than 400 windsurfers are getting ready to compete for a share of the $25,000 pot in the Lancelin Ocean Classic next week, 6-9 January 2011. The headline Ledge Point to Lancelin Marathon takes place on the 8th, with Bjorn Dunkerbeck, Peter Volwater and Karin Jaggi looking favourite, but first it\'s the waves where we\'ll be rooting for freshman Timo Mullen to put on a show against the likes of Ben Severne, Jesper Orth, Jager Stone and Scott McKercher. Back to Pommyland now, and someone we reckon might do alright in that Marathon has been celebrating Christmas at the White House – anyone who\'s met Dave White will know he can never have enough toys, and this year Santa delivered a new front door and little run-about (by his standards!) van. Who says there\'s no style in Essex? See the latest galleries at davewhite.me
Eastern England to eastern Ireland now, where Mikey Clancy has broken his recent enforced drought after the big freeze with a St Stephen\'s Day session (that\'ll be Boxing Day to us heathens...) More at mikeyclancy.com
Note that 4-batten compact Severne wave sail – a concept we\'re going to see a lot of next season. And it seems Levi Siver\'s developing Goya\'s take on it too: check out this sequence from the mighty Jimmie Hepp (with thanks to \'new boy\' blogger Zakel for the heads up!)
Talking of sails, although with no sign of a 4-batten compact yet, MauiSails have released their 2011 brochure – check it out at mauisails.com
And finally, this time of year is all about the kiddies, right? Well, it certainly seems to be for 11 year-old young gun Noah Voecker who\'s been perfecting his moves at Las Cucharas, Lanzarote, over Christmas. Definitely one to watch this next decade or two – check him out...
