News Headlines – Fri 7th

Every year, Klaas Voget heads down to the cold waters of Chile to score some of the best wave sailing conditions on Earth. This year is no different and so far, he’s scored pretty decent sessions! Here we have a small video that proves it!

And after watching that vid, don\’t you feel you are really over being cold? Don\’t you feel like going on holiday to Prasonisi for example?… for FREE? I bet you do. Well, Sportif and the Pro Centre Christof Kirschner are offering Boardseeker and BOARDS readers the opportunity to win a fantastic windsurfing holiday for two to the world class windsurfing destination of Prasonisi, Rhodes. The competition winners will enjoy a 1 week holiday with accommodation at the 5* Atrium Prestige hotel, choice of JP Australia and Neil Pryde board hire, return flights from the UK and car hire courtesy of Budget . To enter, go to this BOARDS page and place your guess of how many clones there are in the picture (there you can also download a bigger version of the clones pic). You have to be in it to win it!

But as we are still in cold lands, to keep you feeling the warmth of the other side of the World, we have some news from down under in Western Australia. The wind and wave conditions are not making it easy to run the Wave competition in the Lancelin Ocean Classic. This means that if conditions don’t improve during Friday, they will have to run the wave competition on Sunday (after the infamous Aussie Party on Saturday night). On the other hand, it looks like the big long distance race will take place on Saturday, with good wind forecasted and some swell around to make it more exciting. More info and updates on the official event website
Have a look at these videos with Josh Angulo presenting the new Chango models for this year: the Chango and the Chango FW.

And now, as the PWA tour is soon to start in Vietnam, we just heard the news that Pieter Bijl, NED-0, will be back on tour after a couple of years off. The Dutch sailor based in Maui could not compete for the past couple of seasons due to visa problems, but now that all is solved he is fully motivated to be back at the top positions of the ranking like he was before. Here you have a short interview (goolge translated) with Bijl.

More news about events. This year, the Fuerteventura Wave Classic will take place from the 8th until the 18th of February. It is a bit too early to know how the action will be, but so far, let\’s enjoy the video teaser of the event.
Sorry, but we cant help telling you about some rumors. A while ago, we heard that Josh Stone was getting involved in trying to bring back the PWA to Maui. Now, and after the county of Maui changed government, things are looking a bit more positive on this side as the new elected Mayor wants to repair a little bit of the damage made to the windsurf community during the past few years. Here you have how the French site informs about it. (Google translated)
