News Headlines – Fri 25th

Well, gotta say it\’s a light news day today – probably the most notable development, for the UK\’s wave community anyhow, is the news that the 25th annual Tiree Wave Classic has been confirmed for 8-15 October 2011. There\’s suddenly plenty of activity on the TWC Facebook page – check it out.

Meanwhile, a fair bit sooner out in the Mediterranean, Nissan have announced Capo Mannu Sardinia 2011, billed as “The most extreme wave-challenge in the Med Sea”, with a holding period starting in May. More (google-translated!) on

Let\’s move onto the Med\’s southern shores for today\’s first movie – Israeli Simmer / Fanatic freestyler Yarden Meir in Eilat. Light filming, light editing, light music: very apt… Still, pretty sick action though!

Talking of which, here\’s the latest from Kuma Movie who\’s now on Bonaire where he and his teddy bear caught Kiri Thode back in training after success at the first PWA Freestyle event of the season in Vietnam. So here, for your delectation and delight, is Kuma in Bonaire 1.

Sticking with freestylers, super-blogger Zakel has published a very interesting interview with Mr Tricktionary himself – Michael \’Rossi\’ Rossmeier. Check it out at

Back to Bonaire and onto the fairer sex now, FLOWindsurfing have an exhaustive interview with “Danish Diva” Xenia Kessler, the PWA\’s female Rookie of the Year 2010. Check it out at

Keeping it oestrogen rich, and further to yesterday\’s news that Sarah Bibby\’s tucking into her pushloops out on Maui, here\’s the evidence of her first attempt at Kanaha. Certainly puts some of us boys to shame…

But, of course, there\’s a difference between men and boys – bring on the testosterone! Here umi Pictures offer a great angle on their crack DVD editor Jamie Hancock manning up to demonstrate how a pushloop should be done down in Boscombe. Class.

Staying in the UK, Keith Atkinson and Ceri Williams have launched the Formula Windsurfing UK website  – and now Keith\’s after content: “we need the input from the UK\’s formula riders – our initiative was to set up a site for riders, by riders. If you have any stories, pictures, event reports, videos or anything else related to formula windsurfing in the UK, please send us the details through the website…” More at

And finally, it\’s springtime in Britain and don\’t forget the clocks go forward an hour tomorrow. So, with 7.30 sunsets, who\’s up for an after-work session next week? Looks like there could be SW wind coming through, and is it sea breeze season yet? Start getting overexcited at
