Weymouth Sailing Academy hosted the prestigious RYA Youth championships and Youth Trials for the RSX, and other Olympic classes. First place in this event ensured qualification to the ISAF youth worlds.

With winds of 8 - 25 knots over the four day event, the RS:X was tested for its all round capabilities as were the youth sailors. With fast and exciting racing, Richard Hamilton took overall honours in the Boys with, a worst result of a Second, and two discarded thirds in the 11 race series. His main challenger was Elliot Carney from Hythe, with Kim Jiskoot of Bewl in second. Beth Williamson took the girls honours, placing in an excellent 8th place overall.
