Day 2 of the Poole Animal Windfest and the Clouds parted to let an unexpected Northerly wind start the competition. First up was an expression session, won by Benjamin Pro - fitt, with a one handed e slider and a high switch chacho. Andy Chambers came in second and Simon Hurrey in 3rd.
The winds were pretty light with most out on 5.7\'s, because of the direction of the wind, the competition was held in the bay. Because it was so gusty, it was impossible to do a standard style competition, so to make the use of the wind the format was changed to the indoor windsurfing freestyle format. All of the competitors lined up and went according to seeding waited for the gust and then went for the move. The idea was to complete 6 moves, 2 on each side, and the best 4 counted. The best 4 went through to a final. Colin Dixon, would like to point out at this very moment that he missed the final by 0.5 of a point. Pip Pardoe, on his return to UK contests just beat him.
The other finalists were Ben Proffit, Simon Hurrey and Andy Chambers. With a bit of everything in the final, including e sliders, funnels, switch chacho\'s, puneta, shaka, flaka and the usual suspects of sliding shenanigans, Bubble, the current champ won through with Shaka and one handed switch flaka.
"I thought the conditions were really difficult, the format was interesting, but I would have preffered some longer heats. Obviously I am happy with the days result, it was the closest ever result." - Andy Chambers
"erm, well, I thought the expression session went very well, it was good, I thought it worked out right! ha!. The conditions were difficult because the water was bouncing off the wall, and there were massive gusts." - Ben Proffitt
"I\'d like to say that I was impressed with the way the format worked in the testing conditions, I was dissapointed not to win though!"
