Thats all folks

So today saw the PKRA Freestyle championships get wrapped up for 2006.  Aaron Hadlow is offcially 3 x World Champion and has made the UK proud!!!!!  Last night saw a prize ceremony but it was a messy one held at midnight after a free bar!  For the media the ceremony was held for a second time after a lot less alcohol consumption.  Hundreds of people turned up and there were cameras everywhere.
A round up:
The double elimination for the event was held in even less wind then the singles – if that is possible.  Riders were out on 12m\’s through to 16m\’s and in many heats riders spent their time either running up wind or sinking!  Well may be it wasn\’t that bad because their were some super nice moves going on plus its a beautiful place and all the riders were keen to get on the water!  Rui Meira from Portugal remained on top form landing a mobe to wrapped, front mobe to blind, regular and switch slim chance and KGB, blind judge, 313 and a back loop transition.  The final was closely contested by Cesar Portas who fought back with a switch and regular aerial pass back to blind, 313\’s, mobes and more!  However Rui stole the show and to take his first PKRA win.  Aaron Hadlow was taken out at 7th place.  He chose to take the new Atom from Flexifoil because it was a 15m and he clearly wasn\’t enjoying the really light wind.  Alvaro on the other hand – light weight and more used to the light winds took the advantage to take Aaron down.
For the women Angela Peral (North) was ripping in the light wind.  She rode super technical and very consistantly landing railey to blind, railey to wrapped , down loops to blind, back to blind and more.  She went through 6 rounds straight to the final.  Bruised and aching she finished up with 2nd and an enormous smile on her face.
Yesterday the wind still kind of blew and a boarder cross contest was run as a second discipline.  It was just good fun and involved 4 long runs a jump over a big inflatable sausage, a back roll for the girls, a double back roll for the boys and a jump over some huge inflatable havaiana flip flops.  It was more fun and interesting then previous boardercross events because the course was longer and so there was a chance for riders to overtake each other even if they were slow of the start line.
