There was ONE day left to run a full double elimination. With no chance of fitting in both fleets, the Head Jugde ditched the women to concentrate on finishing the mens. Ouch! That couldn\'t have gone down well with one lady, Daida Moreno, who was desperate for a come back in the double as her PWA Wave World title was at stake. What could she do? The event was over for the women and Daida handed the Wave World Title to her sister, Iballa Moreno, only the second time she has won it. At least, they\'re keeping it in the family!
Onto the men, who had classic mast high Hookipa to deal with all be it with light, offshore winds. Ricardo Campello has clearly been practising in the waves as he performed goiters, aerials and photo shoot cut backs to get through to 5th place beating Matt Pritchard and Nik Baker.
John Skye had a good run after a bad start in the single elimination - he got through several heats before losing to new Dad Micah Buzianis. Other interesting results:
Jonas Ceballos beat Pete Volwater before losing to Antoine Albeau. Graham Ezzy beat Julien Taboulet. Victor Fernandez got through to the last 12 before being beaten by Campello.
In the final stages, there were some killer heats: Levi Siver against Jason Polakow was a classic with Polakow winning to meet Kevin Pritchard who he beat to meet Josh Angulo in the final. Josh was, as ever, cool as a cucumber and after not saiing all day, he went out and sailed the perfect wave heat. Polakow mis-timed a wave, crashed out leaving Josh to show off his wave riding style.
