Weymouth speed week has been going from strength to strength over the last 3 years since the resurgance of speed. It\'s prestige has attracted some of the biggest names (in more ways than one) of windsurfing including the almighty Bjorn Dunkerbeck.
DaKine who put up a $1000 prize fund last year have upped their stakes to become title sponsor this year.
Graeme Fuller of Surfsales, importer of DaKine had this to say "“We first became involved last year with Weymouth Speed week and even entered myself, it is a great fun event that appeals to a wide range of water sports enthusiasts and fits very well with our brand. We are also the importers of Gaastra, Tabou and Exocet all of which have great speed pedigrees."
This year will have even better timing equipment for increased precision, courtesy of the International Speedsurfing Association. The event is going to count to both the ISA series and the UKWA British Speed Championships. The DaKine sponsorship also allows the entry cost to be brought down considerably. This combined with recognition as an international event will mean that Weymouth will be very busy this year.
Also a Kiter holds the current record! I think that we want that back...
