PKRA Round 4

So here we have a quick update on the first day of the PKRA.  Breaking news Aaron Hadlow (Flexifoil) got knocked out in the 2nd round by local rider Alex Soto.  Its not the first time Alex has taken Aaron out of the competition early on.  A similar situation happened in Germany last year.  Basically from the beach it appeared to be Aaron\’s heat.  He wasn\’t on top form, but he knocked out various moves with power, but Soto although crashing a lot also knocked out a greater variety of moves including a double fairly powered handle pass and railey to air pass with another handle pass before landing, a back loop to blind with an air pass and a grab as well as a railey to blind with an air pass then landing blind (i know mega confusing, but basically really this variety of moves scores highly on innovation on the PKRA)  Alex crashed a lot and had less power then the Aaron but when speaking to the judges Aaron repeated several of his tricks and as such didn\’t score so high.

Ok, so moving on…   there are two more men representing the UK.  Firstly no total stranger to the world tour, but not a frequent vistor either.  Tom Court from the isle of Wight riding for North also first timer to the PKRA Ali Barrett currently riding Slingshot., but actually representing Turbulence and Lost Cause Boards.  Ali had to pass through the trials to even make it to the amin event, but he did this with ease.  He then rode against Papita delacruz but Ali landed slim chance, kung fu handle pass, kite loop 3 plus s bends, nuclear grabs and others.  Ali passed his heat to then come against Kevin Langeree.  Ali held is own in the heat, but Kevin\’s skill and huge previous experience saw the end of Ali\’s riding for the single eliminations at least.

Tom Court also made it to the second round.  He rode his first heat against local rider Jan Carlos Pulina?  Tom\’s riding has improved massively since last year and he pulled off a wicked kite loop handle pass plus mobes and mobe 5\’s and slim chances.  He then rode another fantastic heat but lost to Naish rider Rui Meira.

For the girls Jo Wilson (Naish/Protest) also went out in the second round just like everyone else from the UK today however after a not so fantastic heat she got her act together to ride against the current tour leader 13 year old Gizella Pulido (Slingshot).  Jo took her 10m out while Gizella took her 5m and she landed a full power down loop s bend, and F16, wet landed a high aerail handle pass and came super close to making her front mobe!  Gizella stomped out a range of her handle passes and whooped Jo\’s butt, but Jo didn\’t take it lying down.  The comps reached the quarter finals and will continue from 11.30am tomorrow (4.30pm UK time).

Currently still in the competition is a random one but it is Mallory De la ville Marque (North), Alvaro Onieva (Best), Alex Soto (Cabrinha) and Corniel (EH).  For the women it\’s Angela Peral (North), Carolina Winkowski (Naish), Gizella Pulido (Slingshot) and Bruna Kajyia (Best).  Will keep you posted.
