After an incredible day of freestyle windsurfing the final winners have been announced here in Fuerteventura.
Today’s action saw huge moves from all the top guys and the conditions were certainly not holding them back.
After fighting hard through the double Amado Vrieswijk was halted on his charge by Gollito Estredo who hit the water with a clear fire in his belly after being knocked out early than he wished in the single elimination. Vrieswijk was not the only one to fall to the attack of the five times world champion, up next was the battle for second place. Steven Van Broeckhoven fought a hard heat and it was as close as it gets, many spectators on the beach were in favour of Van Broeckhoven but without writing down the moves it’s far too hard to make such a judgement. In the end Gollito’s power and motivation saw him progress to the final where he faced the current World Champion, Kiri Thode.
This is where the moves were thrown down as Gollito took the first win with apparent ease. Perhaps this gave Thode the motivation he needed to fight harder. To the second final, and Thode sailed an aggressive and powerful heat, mixing diversity and technical skill to perform a perfect air bob into culo, an outstanding spock culo and much more. However Gollito pushed one last time to pull out a superb Pasko, a bongka and plenty other high powerful moves. Once again the result was close, just 0.5pts in it, but Gollito was eventually crowned as the champion of PWA Fuerteventura.
