The Breakdown – Fri 11th – Jaeger Stone, Mercedes, Ruben Lenten and more…

It’s Friday! Let’s close the week with plenty of awesome windsurfing news and videos. To get us started Boro Martinez sent in this clip from his sessions in Fuerteventura. Seems a popular time for Fuerte clips right now, just check out the style on these one handed ponchs.

From freestyle to waves and we catch up with Jaeger Stone who has released a short video featuring the best of both worlds; huge moves in Pozo and mast high bombs in Gnarloo, this guys living the dream!

Now to keep the balance here is a snippet of slalom. Actually it seems to be more of an ad for Mercedes but we aren’t too fussed, the quality is high, it’s windsurfing, it’s sunny and it’s the weekend…

Let’s wrap this up for the weekend with a fundraiser. Now love them or loathe them kitesurfers may not be in some of our best books but when a fellow watersports athlete reaches out for help we know when to listen. We have been fortunate enough to witness this guy live in Cape Town at the Red Bull King of the Air for the last two years. When top names were literally dropping like flies and being carted off to hospital he was still launching it to the moon in over 40 knots of wind in front of a 10,000+ strong crowd.

So when we heard that Ruben Lenten had developed a cancerous tumour right next to the heart it seemed only fair to show our support, and what is one of the best ways we can support, well by simply sharing his fundraiser to the world. The full story is on the campaign page, which has reached a staggering $221,000 to date, but the costs can blow out of proportion and so the fundraising continues. So before you pack your van for the weekend, consider donating a little to help this inspiring individual defeat one of life’s toughest draws.
