Well we couldn't kick the week off without reporting about Mick Fanning's lucky escape in the final of the WSL in JBay yesterday. In a dramatic day of surfing, Julian Wilson met Fanning in the final for what was set to be an epic showdown. However, just as Mick was preparing to take off for his first wave he was attacked by what many believe to be a Great White shark. Check out the highlights in this clip below. Word on the street however is that he was just trying to get an autograph.
Meanwhile back in the world of gnarly windsurfing and Philip Köster nailed a double off the lip in Pozo to win the super session over the weekend. However, this wouldn't be the first time he has done this, just check 2.40 minutes in this video below.
And here are some highlights, Kuma Movie style, from the Red Bull Super Session in memory of Peter Volwater.
Sticking with Pozo and yesterday's highlight clip is certainly an interesting one as the video crew follow PWA photographer John Carter around the event site, giving us a behind the scenes look at his role. At apparently just 25 years old, John Carter has dedicated his whole life to windsurfing photography and he has the shots and the eye to prove it. A super nice video about one of the most humble men in the sport.
And to wrap up today we head over to Fuerteventura where the PWA freestyle fleet is getting ready for their stage of the PWA Tour in the Canaries. Check out a gallery of action from those who are there early by clicking on the image of Balz Müller, pictures by Tom Brendt.
